Reading that was like being able to glimpse through someone's mind as they daydreamed at work. Plenty of countries have a sharp division between religion and state. France is an example, and has been since the revolution. That's over 200 years, and aside from the unpleasantness with Hitler, things have been going strong. Does this make it an atheist nation? Well it is, technically, but there are still religious people living there unpestered.
Why did the Soviet Union collapse? Its dire economic situation? Ethnic unrest in its overreached regions?
I'm not convinced the situation in Tibet is enough to topple the current Chinese government. It's economy is boomingso that doesn't compare.
The logical link with the U.S.A passes me by apart from the current gloomy economic outlook. Are there any ethnic regions in danger of revolting against a repressive regime? I don't know - Hawaii, maybe?
